A BRIEF HISTORY OF SUSHI
Sushi is a very popular Japanese dish and has been around for a long period of time. It was first heard in China in the second century AD. Originally, it is a way of preserving food. They would usually cure meat and fish wrapped in rice to preserve the freshness. And left to ferment for several months. Then they would throw the rice away and just eat the fish.
By the 7th century, It has mad its way to Japan where the seafood is a staple. The Japanese then took it further by eating the rice with the fish. It was prepared the same way not until on 17th century, Matsumoto Yoschiichi of Tokyo, tried putting rice vinegar on the rice while selling it. So instead of waiting months, Sushi can be eaten immediately.
Sushi now has evolved to another level beyond the traditional Japanese methods. New styles were discovered and any ingredients can be added. Like California sushi, instead of fish, they put the cucumber. Demand for sushi is only increasing and seems to be continuing to evolve and become a common meal around the world!
