FOODS THAT CAN PREVENT HEART DISEASE
Heart disease is still the number one killer of Americans. It’s a good thing in today’s life, we are more aware and new studies are coming out on how to prevent strokes, heart attacks, and any other cardiovascular diseases. 2.) Blueberries. Actually all kind of berries. Studies show that eating blueberries lower the risk of heart attack for it contains antioxidants that may decrease blood pressure and dilate blood vessels.
3.) Dark chocolate. Studies show that eating this could reduce nonfatal heart attacks and strokes in people that are high risk for this. This applies only to chocolate made with 60-70% cocoa. Dark chocolate contains flavonoids that can help clotting, inflammation and blood pressure.
4.) Flax seeds and chia seeds. These seeds contain a high amount of omega 3 fatty acids that are good for your heart and it is high in fiber. Plus, these seeds are fun! You can enjoy it in a lot of ways like putting it in your overnight oats, blending it with your smoothie and adding it on top of your deserts.
5.) Avocado. This popular tasty fruit is popular because it contains a high amount of good and healthy fats that can lower down the risk of heart disease and helps in cholesterol level. Not just that, it also contains potassium and antioxidants. Plus you can create different recipes with this super fruit like guacamole.
6.) Nuts including almonds, walnuts, macadamia nuts, and pistachios contain fiber that is good for the heart. They contain Vitamin E that lowers bad cholesterol. Just choose nuts with less to without added salt.
7.) Tomatoes in studies showed that the consumption increased over the past few years. They are high in potassium that is good for the heart. Plus they are a good source of lycopene that get rid of bad cholesterol and keeps blood vessels open and lower the risk of a heart attack.
