Most of them contain synthetic fragrances and carcinogens which is not good for our health. Of course, nothing beats opening your windows and let the fresh air in. It has its own clean and fresh scent. But when the weather doesn't cooperate, opening your windows might not be that attractive and the best option. Well, air freshener is the answer. And the best thing to do is to create a homemade and natural scent. For a healthier lifestyle. Here are some other great ways to make your kitchen or even the house smell great.
Save lemon or orange peels in the fridge or freezer instead of tossing them. Put peels in a pot of water and bring just to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for an hour to fill the kitchen with fragrance. After using, don't throw yet! After it has cool down, transfer it to a spray bottle and use as an air freshener anywhere.

Herbs with woody stems like rosemary, lavender, bay leaves, and thyme are perfect. You can also boil some fresh garden herbs with citrus fruits. Boil for 1 hour, let it cool then drain and put in a spray bottle and use as an air freshener. You can even make your signature scent while blending citrus fruits and herbs.
4.) NATURAL DEODORIZING CARPET POWDER
Some of the unwanted scents in your kitchen are the carpet or any other fiber-made stuff. Sprinkling a natural deodorizer onto your carpets before you vacuum can help in neutralizing the nasty smell easier and faster. It also leaves a light and fresh scent. For a natural deodorizing powder, you will only need 1/2cup borax, 1/2 cup baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Combine everything in a bowl and stir until the mixture is free of lumps. Then put your mixture in an empty container or a jar with a dispenser top like your empty parmesan cheese container. To use, shake and sprinkle the powder into your carpets and let it stay for about 15 minutes before you start vacuuming.
