WHY IS BAKING FUN? PLUS AN EASY HOMEMADE COOKIES RECIPE

Baking makes kitchen time exciting! Some people find it therapeutic. You can express yourself and be creative. There are tons of recipes you can follow. Baking for others can contribute to their stress relief and can strengthen your connection with them. They even appreciate it more sometimes rather than material things. It’s a great way to bond with family too, especially kids. It’s messy but it’s fun and worth it. Kids learn how to follow instructions even if we adults are the one doing it. They learn how to be patient and can use their imagination. One of the easiest to bake is cookies. When I was a kid, my mom and I usually bake cookies on Sundays after church and share it with the family. How do you like your cookies? I want mine soft, chewy, and buttery in flavor. Here’s a simple recipe of cookies you and your family will love.

 

INGREDIENTS:

 

2 Cups raisins

1/2 Cup chopped/crushed walnuts/almonds

(or any nuts of your choice)

1 Cup of water

1 Cup shortening

1 Teaspoon baking powder

1 Teaspoon baking soda

3 and a half cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1-3/4 cups sugar

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 large eggs

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

 

Directions

1.) Mix water and raisins in a small saucepan/bowl and bring to a boil for 3 minutes.

2.) Remove and set aside to let it cool but do not drain.

 

3.) Preheat oven to 350°.

 

4.) Get a large bowl and combine the shortening and sugar and cream it until light and fluffy.

 

5.) Beat the eggs and add the Vanilla.

 

6.)  Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

 

7.)  Add to creamed mixture and mix well then Stir in nuts and raisins.

 

8.) Put 2 teaspoon apart on greased baking sheets and bake it for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Then remove and set aside to cool down.

 

Now your chewy cookies are ready to eat. Enjoy!
